About

A steady presence, not another expert to manage.

You don't need someone to fix you. You need someone steady beside you while you find your own footing. That's what Stephenie brings to the room.

LPCC STEPHENIE ILAGAN, LPCC

Curious about behavior, grounded in the body.

Before becoming a therapist, I spent more than a decade working as a Behavior Analyst and over twenty years alongside neurotypical and neurodivergent children, adults, and families. That work shaped something I still believe deeply: Behavior makes sense in context.

What we do-or don’t do-is rarely random. Avoidance, shutting down, overthinking, people pleasing, perfectionism, staying constantly busy, or feeling disconnected from yourself may have developed for very good reasons. Rather than asking what’s wrong with me? I’m often more interested in what happened here, and what is your system trying to protect?

Over time, my work moved beyond looking only at behavior and toward understanding what lives underneath it: attachment, nervous-system responses, developmental experiences, trauma, and the different parts of ourselves that learned how to survive.

Beyond the therapist chair:

My own experiences with healing have shaped how I sit with others. I know what it’s like when insight isn’t enough, when the body holds what the mind already understands, and when healing asks us to move more slowly than we’d like.

In many ways, the wound became the doorway.

Not because your story is the same as mine, but because I’ve learned the importance of having someone beside you who isn’t afraid of complexity-someone who won’t rush the process or ask you to leave the protective parts of yourself behind. That experience, alongside my clinical training, shapes a therapy that is attachment-based, trauma-informed, developmental, somatic, and deeply client-centered.

We start with curiosity. We listen to what your system has been trying to communicate. And we move at a pace that allows change to become something you can actually live-not just understand.

"My goal is to provide an authentic, safe place for you to explore your own internal landscape, not to hand you answers, but to help you get curious about the ones you already carry."
